Goodbye and Good Luck to Shelley
Shelley Timpson leaves the NWCE on 9th March to begin a new job as Carers Development Officer for Tameside MBC. Shelley has been with the NWCE for over a year, and has proved an extremely valuable and popular member of the team. We are all disappointed to see her leave, and I’m sure that everyone who has met Shelley will join us in wishing her the best of luck in her future career.

Helping Middle Managers deliver efficiencies – A subsidised capacity and skills programme for the North West
We would like to remind you about this valuable training event taking place around the region next week (13th March). Please note this is free of charge.
This course is aimed at Middle Managers who are responsible for signing off spend, but who do not actively participate in procurement. It will help improve basic procurement skills and awareness e.g. role of procurement cycle, business case, managing supplier relations etc. It will also help with understanding of how budgets are spent and how to apply correct procurement tools and techniques to ensure EU regulations are not breached.
A number of councils within the North West are undertaking Purchase Spend Analysis – this helps analyse uncontrolled spend under the council’s tender limit. Many of these councils are finding that large areas of their authority are breaching EU regulations and not using resources effectively.
