Tameside win ‘Solid Gold Award’ – North West in Bloom

We would like to extend our congratulations to our host authority, Tameside, on their ‘solid gold’ performance at this year’s North West in Bloom awards ceremony.  A group of partially sighted gardeners played their part - The Iris Gardening Club, along with a local school and an allotment society, partnered the council in the competition which played a crucial role in winning the top gold award in the Large City category. The borough is now placed in an elite league of Large City entries alongside Cardiff, Aberdeen, Nottingham and Doncaster – despite it not having city status!

NWDA Supporting Important Environmental Initiative for Manchester

The NWDA are supporting the above initiative to “Make Manchester the greenest, cleanest and coolest city on the planet”!

Every time we boil a kettle, leave the TV on standby or drive a car, we use energy. The more energy we use, the more greenhouse gases we create and the more we change the world's climate.

Heard it all before...?  Climate change won't just affect countries in the developing world.

Flash flooding, soaring temperatures and violent storms will become increasingly common across Manchester and its surrounding boroughs.

There are three million of us all living or working across the Manchester City Region - in Bolton, Bury, Manchester, Oldham, Rochdale, Salford, Stockport, Tameside, Trafford and Wigan. If we all pledge to make some small changes to the way we live, we, as a city, can help put the brakes on climate change.

Together we have the power to make Manchester the greenest, cleanest and coolest city on Earth.

Click on this link <http://www.manchesterismyplanet.com/>  now and pledge to cut your carbon emissions and tackle climate change. It costs you nothing at all and could actually end up saving you money.  Take thirty seconds to 'click your pledge' using this link <http://www.manchesterismyplanet.com/pledge> .
